Once upon a time...................

"Far out in the ocean, where the water is as blue as the prettiest cornflower, and as clear as crystal, it is very, very deep; so deep, indeed, that no cable could fathom it: many church steeples, piled one upon another, would not reach from the ground beneath to the surface of the water above. There dwell the Sea King and his subjects."
-The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen

"The little mermaid lifted her glorified eyes towards the sun, and felt them, for the first time, filling with tears."
-The Little Mermaid By Hans Christan Andersen

“If you think we're alive, you ought to speak,” said the one marked Dee.
-Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
“`Who are YOU?' said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation.  Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'”
-Alice in WonderLand By Lewis Carroll

“There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.”

-Alice in Wonderland By Lewis Carroll

“Once upon a time in a faraway land, there was a tiny kingdom, peaceful, prosperous, and rich in romance and tradition. Here in a stately chateau, there lived a widowed gentleman and his little daughter, Cinderella.”
-Cinderella

“The Queen turned crimson with fury, and, after glaring at her for a moment like a wild beast, screamed `Off with her head! Off--'  `Nonsense!' said Alice, very loudly and decidedly, and the Queen was silent.
"
-Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

"The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 21st year. If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a beast?"
-Beauty and the Beast

"I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell. And for once it might be grand, to have someone understand. I want so much more than they've got planned."
-Belle
-Beuty and the Beast

“Magic Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”
-The Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

“Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.”
-The Wizard of Oz

“Hard by a great forest dwelt a poor wood-cutter with his wife and his two children. The boy was called Hansel and the girl Gretel.”
-Hansel and Gretel

“And the godless witch was miserably burnt to death.”
-Hansel and Gretel

“The old woman had only pretended to be so kind; she was in reality a wicked witch, who lay in wait for children, and had only built the little house of bread in order to entice them there. When a child fell into her power, she killed it, cooked and ate it, and that was a feast day with her.”

-Hansel and Gretel
“One day her mother told her she meant to send her to her grandmother.”
-Little Red Riding Hood

"Grandmother," she said, "what a great nose you have."
"All the better to smell with, my dear," said the wolf.
"And, grandmother, what large ears you have."
"All the better to hear with, my dear."
"Ah! grandmother, and what large eyes you have."
"All the better to see with, my dear," said the wolf, showing his teeth, for he longed to eat the child up.
"Oh, grandmother, and what great teeth you have!" said Little Red Riding-Hood.
"All the better to eat you up with," growled the wolf.
-Little Red Riding Hood

Frizzy blond hair clutters my face, excitement sparks into my eyes. I pet the pink book with the mangled spine, the book that contains imaginary lands, my childhood dreams, and some of the first words I ever read. That pink book contains the fairy tales that brought an ear to ear crooked smile to my young candy covered face. I loved Fairy tales fore they the simple fact they defy facts and show us a happy ending. That they show the bad guy in a cape making he/she obvious for the eye and that the good guys are brave, noble, perfect qualities we all desire to have but can never reach. That there utterly fiction. But now looking at the above interpretations i know why they appeal to my eyes, they remind me of a simpler times where my sense of style only included the color pink, those times where i thought i could turn into a mermaid and if i wished on a star all my wishes would come true. The times where i opened up that scratched up pink book and believed ever black italic word i read, those were the simpler times the times of childhood.

When you finally go back to your old hometown, you find it wasn't the old home you missed but your childhood.  ~Sam Ewing

What's your favorite fairy tale? Mine is The Little Mermaid.

    1. I defiantly believe Great minds think a like. And your "little mermaid" post partly inspired me to do this post that and all those fairytale movies and shows popping up on the radar.
